Owen Alster
Timber Framing, American College of the Building Arts
Owen Alster grew up on a small farm in northern Maryland where he learned carpentry from his late father. His interest in timber framing was sparked from time spent in the historic timber framed barns of the area. Owen is currently in his third year at the American College of the Building Arts where he is studying timber framing and earning a Bachelor’s degree in applied science with a focus in historic preservation.
"This degree lays a solid traditional trade oriented foundational knowledge for me to approach my trade and future with."

Elizabeth Clark
Political Science & English, College of Charleston
Elizabeth Clark is expecting to graduate from College of Charleston Honors College in May 2026 with a Political Science B.A., English B.A. and a minor in Women and Gender Studies.
"The liberal arts are important to me because they cultivate the critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and communication skills necessary to navigate the law while fostering a broad, interdisciplinary perspective that enables me to advocate effectively for underrepresented communities."

Noah Miller
Political Science & English, The Citadel
Noah is from Camden, SC, and he is most satisfied when he is serving others. A political science and English double major, he is in his third year at The Citadel and hopes to go to law school and eventually practice as a solicitor. He is currently on The Citadel Mock Trial Team, an editor of The Gold Star Journal, The Citadel's premier academic publication, and president of The Citadel's Honors Program Advisory Committee.
"The liberal arts are important to me because it educates me for Truth, to more fully understand right from wrong, and to engage in battle between our worst and best ideas. A liberal arts education teaches us how to speak convincingly, to think deeply, to live deliberately."

Olivia Thompson
Theology, Charleston Southern University
Olivia is extremely honored to be the Lowcountry Phi Beta Kappa Association scholarship recipient from Charleston Southern University. Through the study of Theology as an academic discipline, Olivia has gained deeper insight into her community, an understanding of her life’s purpose, and a mission to practice the presence of God in all places. Olivia is overjoyed to join the field of liberal arts where so many faithful men and women have paved the way. This scholarship will allow Olivia to meaningfully engage with the world around her in Christian thought filled with academic excellence and worship.
"A liberal arts education has been foundational in my formation because it has fostered a deep love for the beautiful complexities of this world, found in studying disciplines as diverse as science, communication, math, and philosophy. It has also created within me a desire to make these realities known to all people, to give free access to these wonderful truths I have the privilege to learn."
