Lowcountry PBK Association is excited to share information about our 2026 scholarship recipients - each of whom received a scholarship of $2,500 thanks to the generous donations of our members.

Grace Brown, American College of the Building Arts

Grace is majoring in architectural stone carving. After graduation, Grace plans to start her own business in Colorado to do stonework as her career.

The coursework in this specialization encompasses every stage of the craft, including an introduction of quarrying techniques to carving the most intricate details by hammer and chisel, or even learning about robotic tool trends. ACBA’s degree program focuses on the skills required in decorative carving, letter cutting, and architectural banker masonry, while also providing the fundamentals in masonry construction and restoration techniques. While hand mallets and chisels are taught as the foundational tools of practice, they are supplemented as appropriate with modern power tools.

Jocelynn Nguyen, College of Charleston

Jocelynn is majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Spanish. Biology has always interested Jocelynn since her intro level science classes in high school. Coming to the College of Charleston, Jocelynn has grown to adore this vast major with its multiple subdisciplines. Jocelynn has also taken classes in the liberal arts, and the humanities have taught her the value of not just looking at a problem empirically but empathically as well. Jocelynn believes this has given her the critical thinking and communication skills she needed to use her science knowledge in an extremely complex and dynamic social environment. Combining both her love for science and humanities, she plans to pursue a career in dentistry and take all that she has learned at the College of Charleston to her graduate studies and beyond.

Kevin Mahoney, The Citadel

Kevin is a junior cadet and triple major in Political Science, Spanish, and Intelligence/Security Studies.

Cadet Mahoney has academically distinguished himself while also being an outstanding leader in the barracks for his peers. In addition to his interdisciplinary background, Cadet Mahoney maintains a 4.0 GPA and is under contract to commission into the United States Army following his graduation as part of the Class of 2027.
